Tour
No. 1 |
|
ON THIS TOUR two
nights are spent at the Valley
of Rocks Hotel, which stands
high on the cliff at Lynton,
overlooking Lynmouth and the
beautiful wooded North Devon
coast. The wild Exmoor country,
so well described in 'Lorna
Doone', forms the background
for the journey to and from
Lynton.
|
|
On the second
day the tourist is left with
the morning free to explore
Lynton and Lynmouth, and in
the afternoon a short tour is
provided through Barnstaple
to Ilfracombe. The route out
and back is chosen to give the
greatest possible variety of
scenery and points of interest.

village of famous beauty and charm
on the South Cornish coast.

Tour No. 8 |
|
THIS TOUR has been
designed for those wishing to explore
the extreme northern Highlands of Scotland,
and to do this in a leisurely fashion. |
|
The arrangements provide
a combination of the No. 7 Tour, together
with a special seven-days' tour operated
by Scottish Omnibuses Limited to Strathpeffer
and the Western Highlands. Tourists
take the first seven days of the No.
7 Tour to Scotland, and on the eighth
day (Monday) join the Scottish Omnibuses'
coach at the Dunblane Hydro. The tour
then proceeds under the guidance of
Scottish Omnibuses, who are experts
in the exploration of the Highlands
by motor coach, and have very comprehensive
hotel arrangements and experienced
courriers for this purpose.
|
|
The first day is spent
in travelling through Pitlochry, the
Pass of Killiecrankie and Inverness
to Strathpeffer. The next five days
are spent centred on Strathpeffer,
with tours into the grand countryside
of the Western Highlands each day.
|
|
Loch Ness, Fort Augustus,
Loch Maree, Muir of Ord, Ullapool,
the Falls of Measach, Lairg, the Falls
of Shin, are a few of the names of
the places visited. It is doubtful
if anyone spending a holiday in the
Western Highlands could see so much
without the knowledge of the Scottish
Omnibuses in the preparation of the
routes.
|
|
Returning to Dunblane
Hydro on the following Sunday, the
tourists are again taken into the
care of the Hants and Dorset Company
and join the second half of the following
week's twelve-day Scottish Tour, returning
from Dunblane to the Peebles Hydro,
from which Edinburgh is visited, and
then taking the return route described
for Tour No. 7.
