Saturday 2 January
Hamble Quay
From home to St Denys Road, Cobden Bridge, Bitterne Park Triangle, Bullar Road, Bitterne Road, Northam Bridge, Northam, Chapel, Itchen Bridge, Woolston, Portsmouth Road, Old Netley, Pound Road, Hamble Lane, Satchell Lane, Hamble Square, Hamble Quay. 8.75mi 14.08km.
From Hamble Quay via Green Lane, School Lane, Hamble Lane, Ensign Way and Hamble Shore, then across the Royal Victoria Country Park to the cafe. 2.12mi 3.41km.
A break for a drink then out to Hound Road, Hound Way and Station Road to The Badgers and Netley station. 1.21mi 1.95km.
12.08mi 19.44km. Train home.
Cold but mostly sunny with a light breeze.
 
Tuesday 5 January
Weston Shore
From home via St Denys (Horseshoe Bridge), the Itchen boardwalk and footpath, under Northam Bridge then Northam, Chapel, Itchen Bridge, Woolston, Weston Shore, Netley Abbey and the Royal Victoria Country Park (cafe). 6.18mi 9.95km.
Home from the Royal Victoria Country Park via Hound Road, Hamble Lane, Pound Road, Portsmouth Road, Manor Road South, Radstock Road, Peartree Avenue, Athelstan Road, Bullar Road, Bitterne Park Triangle, Cobden Bridge and St Denys Road. 6.90mi 11.10km.

Cold and windy but some good sunny spells.
The first day of a new national lockdown. Also the adoption of stricter personal protection rules, similar to last spring. This includes a smaller permitted area (5 miles) around my home, a further reduction in route options and no use of public transport.
 
Friday 8 January
Royal Victoria Country Pak.
From home via St Denys Road, Cobden Bridge, Bitterne Park Triangle, Bullar Road, Athelstan Road, Peartree Avenue, bridge Road (Woolston), Radstock Road, Manor Road South, Portsmouth Road, Old Netley, Pound Road, Hamble Lane and the Hamble rec footpath to the Royal Victoria Country Park (beach). 7.48mi 12.04km.
From the Royal Victoria Country Park via Victoria Road (Netley Abbey), Weston Shore, Victoria Road (Woolston), Itchen Bridge, Chapel and Northam, then under Northam Bridge, along the footpath and boardwalk to Horseshoe Bridge, St Denys Road and home. 6.59mi 10.61km.
14.07mi 22.64km.
Still cold but with little wind. Quite a good day for a brisk walk.
Walks are now suspended.
 
Coronavirus pandemic
The continuing Covid-19 outbreak means that my walks have to be taken with safety in mind, including restricting the use of public transport and avoiding crowded places. As a result, routes may differ from previous years.
With the infection rate rising and a new national lockdown in force, I suspended all routes from the 9th of January for the rest of the month
