A row of buildings in Above Bar, opposite
Commercial Road. The stop was also called
The Aviary (a set of small cages in the park
near the stop until about 1980). Locals often
called it the Bird Aviary! Now The Cenotaph
(inward journeys). |

At the Woolston end of Weston Shore, formerly
steel mills, later a Royal Navy supply depot.

A public house in Butts Road, Sholing. (Closed). |

| Floating Bridge (Woolston)
and Floating
Bridge (Southampton) There was a bus
terminal on either side of the floating bridges.
The buildings on both sides had been largely
destroyed during the second world war. On
the Southampton side an old terrace house
had a kitchen which supplied early morning
bus crews with tea, coffee and toast. On the
Woolston side, the Hants & Dorset bus
depot had a canteen. The Corporation had no
depot on that side of the river, Woolston
crews were in fact based at Portswood depot. |

| Town Junction
(or simply The Junction), Portswood
Junction and
Shirley Terminus
were left over names from the tram system.
The Town Junction was the junction of Commercial
Road and Above Bar. Portswood Junction was
the junction of Portswood Road and St. Denys
Road (now Old St. Denys Road). Shirley Terminus
was at the Romsey Road end of Shirley High
Street, near the current pedestrian precinct. |

On The Avenue, near Highfield Road. A first
world war camp built on the former race track.
The name stuck. |
