Bus Museum - Hants & Dorset / Wilts & Dorset - Timetables - June 1980 (1) Back Next Timetables Index Back Next Click the main image for the next example or click Back or Next Hants/Wilts & Dorset Contents Timetables Fare Charts Holidays Leaflets Rule Book Unused Tickets Used Tickets Uniform Items Other Items Employment           As a result of the Market Analysis Project (MAP), 1980 saw the introduction of local area branding:   Antonbus Provincial South Hants South Wessex Venturebus Wiltsway Wintonline           TIMETABLE CHANGES Starting Sunday, 29th June, 1980 SOUTHAMPTON, NETLEY, HAMBLE, LOWFORD, BOTLEY AND HEDGE END AREAS With the introduction of our 'New Provincial' services in Fareham and Gosport there will be some changes to services in these areas. These alterations are based on the tremendous response to the major survey of bus travle made some eighteen months ago and will help us to run more economically. Furher changes to our services in the Southampton area will be introduced in the summer. Service 53   Southampton - Fareham X53   Southampton - Botley     These services will be withdrawn and replaced by Service 76 and new Service 75. For the time being, however, the following journeys will still run:     Mondays to Saturdays   Saturdays 0915 Southampton to Botley.   1904 Botley to Southampton. X70   Southampton - Gosport     This service will be re-routed via A3024 between Bitterne and Windover, and will also serve Rowner. On weekdays buses will leave Southampton at 15 minutes past the hour and Gosport at 45 minutes past the hour. There will be no buses on Sundays. X71   Southampton - Fareham - Southsea     The only change will be the introduction of a regular service every 2 hours between Southampton and Fareham on Sundays. 75   Southampton - Fareham     New Service replacing the 53 during the daytime on Mondays to Saturdays. There will be no evening or Sunday service. 76   Southampton - Fareham     There will be one bus per hour between Southampton and Fareham during the day but in the evenings and on Sundays the 76 will run between Southampton and Botley only. At Hedge End this service will run through the Oaklands Estate to replace the 82. 78 / 78A   Southampton - Fareham     The 78 will run at peak times only with a new timetable. A new service, 78A, will serve Gudge Heath Lane, Catisfield and Swanwick to Sarisbury. 80   Southampton - Fareham     During the main part of the day on Mondays to Saturdays this service will run every hour leaving Southampton at half-past the hour and Fareham at 5 minutes past the hour. Between Titchfield and Park Gate the route will be via Titchfield Square, South St., Coach Hill, Common Lane, Hunts Pond Rd., Church Rd. and Locks Rd. to A27. 82   Southampton - Hedge End     This will be withdrawn and replaced by Service 76 between Southampton and Oaklands Estate and by Service 83 between Southampton and Oakhill. 83   Southampton - Gosport     New service replacing the 82 and 93. The route will be via Itchen Bridge, A3025, Wrights Hill, Upper Weston Lane, Portsmouth Rd., Pound Rd., Hamble Rd., Titchfield (sic), Lowford, Oakhill, Bridge Rd., Lower Swanwick, Sarisbury, Warsash, Titchfield, Stubbington, Lee-on-Solent and Chark Farm. 85   Southampton - Hamble     The following journey will be withdrawn:     Mondays to Fridays     0817 Oakhill to Southampton 89   Southampton - Netley / Park Gate     This service will run between Southampton and either Netley or Pilands Wood Estate with some adjustment to times. 93   Southampton - Gosport     This service will be replaced by the new 83 (see above).     Amendment No. 3 to Southampton Area Timetable dated May 1979.   Hants & Dorset Motor Services Ltd., The Square, Bournemouth, BH2 5AB.
