Most people's buses will be affected in some way, either a new route, a route change, a new route number or different times. So please study this book and make sure that you know about your new bus after the 10th August. If you have any difficulties our staff at the bus stations will be pleased to help.
The new South Hants Network has been developed from the information that you gave us in your tremendous response to the survey made some eighteen months ago. This told us what people in the area needed from their bus service. It showed us how some areas needed more buses and others fewer. The result is that we can make better use of our resources to run more economically so that South Hants will break even financially. Wherever the survey showed the need the service has been improved.
In a sense the 10th August will be the "start of the beginning" of South Hants because we shall be watching to see if we can improve things further. With this we would welcome your help. We have done our best to get things right first time, but like everyone else, we are not infallible. So if you find things more difficult or you have a suggestion to make please drop us a line at Eastleigh or Southampton bus stations.
If you have any questions about the new South Hants network our staff at Winchester, Eastleigh, Romsey, Southampton or Fareham bus stations will be pleased to help. Alternatively watch out for the Information Buses that will be around the area before and after the 10th August.

WHAT'S CHANGED
The new network affects buses in the Eastleigh, Bishops Waltham and Hamble areas including the buses to and from Southampton, Winchester and Petersfield. Some people will have fewer buses and others more. Generally the level of evening and Sunday service is reduced. Buses will still be running over the same roads as now in most cases but at different times and some with a new route number.

BUS STOPS
Except where there is a major change of route most of the existing stops will still be used.

Buses in the Romsey, Totton and Waterside areas are also changing on the 10th August. Details are in a separate book.
Amendment No. 4 to Southampton Area Timetable dated May 1979.
