The opening of the new Itchen
Bridge gives us a golden opportunity to provide,
for the first time, a direct bus link between
Woolston and Southampton.
|
|
| This will make travel to Southampton much easier
and quicker for people in Woolston, Netley and Hamble. |
|
| Changes will be introduced on Sunday 12th June,
affecting buses in the Southampton, Eastleigh and
Fareham areas and include necessary alterations
in times, routes and some service numbers. |
|
| These are the main features of the new scheme: |
|
| 1. |
Services 49, 78, 80, 81, 81A are extended
from Woolston to Southampton (across the Itchen
Bridge) with necessary time adjustments. |
|
|
| 2. |
Between Woolston and Park Gate, Service
78 is replaced by a new Service No. 89. Service
78 will now run 4 times a day over a new route. |
|
|
| 3. |
Service 77 - Warsash to Fareham - will be
re-routed via Catisfield to replace part of
the 84 route. |
|
|
| 4. |
Service 84 will run between Gosport Ferry
and Fareham Bus Station only. The section
to Catisfield will be replaced by Service
77 and some extra journeys on Service 76. |

| 5. |
Service 82 is withdrawn and replaced by
extra journeys on Service 85. |
|
|
| 6. |
Services 53, 76, 85 and 88/88A will keep
their basic frequencies but are re-timed to
give more regular departures. |
|
|
| 7. |
Service 42 will be extended from Eastleigh
Bus Station to Stoke Common with necessary
time adjustments. By public request this restores
the Chandler's Ford - Bishopstoke link. |

|
| 8. |
Service 45 between Eastleigh and Longmead
Avenue will be replaced by the extension to
Service 42, except for some peak-hour journeys.
Otherwise Service 45 will run from Eastleigh
Bus Station to the Hypermarket only. |

| 9. |
More buses will become "Pay-as-you-enter"
with a driver/conductor. Please have the correct
fare ready. It will help him, you and your
fellow passengers. |

| 10. |
Bus stops in Bassett Avenue, Southampton
will be merged with those of S.C.T. |
