The ferry to Warsash

Hamble-le-Rice
Postcode SO31 4LS
The Hamble river is one of the best known sailing areas of the country. The shore along Southampton Water is a popular place for a walk and to sit and watch the world and the liners go by. The village is strung out along Hamble Lane. There are shops in the Square (near the ferry) and at Coronation Parade near Kings Avenue on the way to and from the station. Also at Kings Avenue is Folland Sports FC's ground. Hamble used to be a centre for the aircraft industry and had two airfields. The remains of local railway lines serving the BP oil depot can still be seen.

Warsash - by ferry (mornings and afternoons only). At busy times, the ferry runs continuously but in less busy periods and particularly in the winter you may need to phone. The service may be suspended in bad weather including rain. Please check the current hours of operation before travelling. There is a pontoon for all sailings on the Hamble side but only at high tide on the Warsash side. At other times you will need to walk along the hard which can be slippery. A water taxi is also available.
