Where next? Click a location to go there. Distances are estimated.
Netley Village 0.55mi / 0.89km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the end of Station Road turn left for the Royal Victoria Country Park or right for the village, abbey ruins and Weston Shore.
Royal Victoria Country Park 0.52mi / 0.84km - a shorter route to the country park. Turn left immediately outside the front of the station (platform 1) to The Badgers. At the end of this short road, a footpath leads to Hound Road. Turn right and enter the park at the top of the road. This route takes you to a point near the Visitor Centre and Tea Room.

From Netley Village 0.55mi / 0.89km - Coming from the direction of the abbey, turn left from Victoria Road to Station Road. Coming from the direction of the Royal Victoria Country Park, turn right in to Station Road. The station is a short way off to the right from the main road.
From the Royal Victoria Country Park 0.52mi / 0.84km - take the path along the left end of the Visitor Centre, alongside a car park. Cross an internal road and follow the road ahead to the exit gate on Hound Road. At the end of a row of bollards on the edge of the road, a footpath on the left leads to The Badgers and the station.
Bursledon 3.00mi / 4.83km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the sign post, turn sharp right. Station Road becomes Hound Way and then Hound Road. Turn left in to Hamble Lane and follow Hamble Lane B3397 to the pedestrian crossing at Lowford Hill. Turn right on to Lowford Hill which joins Portsmouth Road. Continue through Lowford to the A27 and turn right. This road becomes Oakhill for a short distance and then Bridge Road. At the bottom of a hill you will see a railway bridge. Turn right immediately before the bridge in to Church Lane, then bear left in to Station Road.
Bursledon 3.87mi / 6.23km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the sign post, turn sharp right. Station Road becomes Hound Way and then Hound Road. Turn left in to Hamble Lane and follow this road to the Tesco store. Turn right on to Providence Hill A27. This road becomes Oakhill for a short distance and then Bridge Road. At the bottom of a hill you will see a railway bridge. Turn right immediately before the bridge in to Church Lane, then bear left in to Station Road.
Hamble 2.66mi / 4.28km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the sign post, turn sharp right. Station Road becomes Hound Way and then Hound Road. Turn right on to Hamble Lane and follow this road through Hamble village and Hamble Square to Hamble Quay.
As an alternative, follow either route to the Royal Victoria Country Park. Take the steps down to the beach. Walk along the beach, passing the oil terminal, to the car park at Hamble Point. At high tide you may prefer to take the path and road running behind the shore and will certainly need to use the wall in front of the oil terminal. The path at the Hamble end has suffered from erosion. From Hamble Point, cross the road and take the path parallel to the road. At the end of the path, join the road and turn right in to School Lane. At the end of School Lane turn right to Hamble Square and down to the quay. About 3.20mi / 5.15km.
The shore near the Royal Victoria Country Park is difficult when the tide is fully in because of concrete slipways and an overhanging tree.
Hedge End 3.82mi / 6.15km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the sign post, turn sharp right. Station Road becomes Hound Way and then Hound Road. Turn left in to Hamble Lane and follow this road to the Tesco store. Take the A27 in the direction of West End Road and turn right shortly afterwards in to St John's Road. Follow ths road down in to Hedge End.

Turn right on to Lowford Hill which joins Portsmouth Road. Continue through Lowford to the A27 and turn right. This road becomes Oakhill for a short distance and then Bridge Road. Go under the railway bridge and over the river to Lower Swanwick.

Station Road becomes Hound Way and then Hound Road. Turn left in to Hamble Lane and follow this road to the Tesco store. Take the A27 in the direction of West End Road and stay on this road to the next roundabout at Kanes Hill. Cross Thornhill Park Road A334 and turn left on to that road. By the bus stop, turn right on to the footpath and follow this to its end where it rejoins the A27, now Moorhill Road. Continue along the A27 which changes name again to Church Hill and then Swaythling Road. At Allington Lane roundabout continue along the A27, or take the footpath on the Townhill Way side and rejoin the A27 further along. The name changes yet again, this time to Mansbridge Road.
West End 5.43mi / 8.74km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the sign post, turn sharp right. At the traffic lights, turn right on to West End High Street B3035.
Woolston 3.10mi / 4.99km - directly in front of the main station building (platform 1 exit), along Station Road. At the end of Station Road turn right in to Victoria Road. Continue along Abbey Hill, Weston Parade (Weston Shore) from which a path passes Southampton Sailing Club to Victoria Road (Woolston). Follow Victoria Road to Woolston centre. Alternatively in Netley, instead of continuing on the road to Abbey Hill, just after the junction with Grange Road, look for signs on the left for the Weston Shore Link and Netley Castle. A path takes you past Weston Sailing Club to Weston Shore.
