Mansbridge 5.29mi / 8.51km - along Bridge Road A27 towards Southampton, up the hill (which becomes Oakhill then Providence Hill) to the Tesco store. Take the third exit from the roundabout, West End Road A27. Follow this road to the next roundabout, Kanes Hill. Cross Thornhill Park Road A334 and turn left on to that road. By the bus stop, turn right on to the footpath and follow this to its end where it rejoins the A27, now Moorhill Road. Continue along the A27 which changes name again to Church Hill and then Swaythling Road. At Allington Lane roundabout continue along the A27, or take the footpath on the Townhill Way side and rejoin the A27 further along. The name changes yet again, this time to Mansbridge Road.

Sarisbury 0.71mi / 1.14km - Straight up the hill on the A27 towards Fareham.
Warsash 2.83mi / 4.55km - on the A27 Bridge Road, facing towards Fareham, turn right on to Swanwick Shore Road. Where the road turns to the left, continue ahead along the path. A pedestrian route is marked on the ground across Universal Marina and the path continues along the side of the river. The path becomes a causeway with the river on the right and tidal mud-flats on the left. After passing the ferry to Hamble, the path continues to Passage Lane where you take the left-hand road. Warsash village is at the top of this road. Alternatively, take the right-hand road to stay alongside the river. A path runs from near the Rising Sun to the beach where the river Hamble meets Southampton Water. (Lower Swanwick to the Rising Sun is 2.46mi / 3.96km, to the beach a further 0.77mi / 1.24km).
The route from Lower Swanwick to Warsash is uneven, liable to flooding on and after spring tides and after heavy or prolonged rain. There is a road route via Sarisbury Green.
West End 4.52mi / 7.27km - along Bridge Road A27 towards Southampton, up the hill (which becomes Oakhill then Providence Hill) to the Tesco store. Continue along the A27 which changes name again to Church Hill. At the traffic lights, turn right on to West End High Street B3035.
Woolston 3.85mi / 6.20km - along Bridge Road A27, over the river towards Southampton, up the hill to Portsmouth Road. Turn left here and follow the road through Lowford. Portsmouth Road bears right as it leaves the village but instead the route keeps to the left along Lowford Hill where it reaches Hamble Lane (Hamble 2.57mi / 4.14km to the left, Windhover Roundabout 0.50mi / 0.80km to the right, both before crossing due to single footway), at a pedestrian crossing. Go straight across and down Manor Close to rejoin Portsmouth Road. You will need to cross to the righthand side. The road passes Sholing football ground, Botley Road and Butts Road (all of these are on the right) until it goes under a railway bridge. Turn right at the traffic lights. Still Portsmouth Road, the road continues to Woolston.
This route passes close to Sholing and Bursledon stations.
